Steven’s Approach
“We can take things seriously without making them feel heavier.”
I know that therapy can feel intimidating, especially if you’re someone who tends to process things privately or leans on logic to make sense of hard moments. My style is steady, strengths-based, and practical, with the occasional dry humor to keep things human.
I work to see the intention behind your actions—not just the outcome—helping you feel seen and understood rather than picked apart.
I combine techniques from the Gottman Method, sex therapy, EMDR, Jungian therapy, Queer Theory, and Emotionally Focused Therapy (EFT) to help you take steps to unapologetically create the life and relationships you want for yourself.
Fun Facts
I love training and learning from horses— especially my horse, Arisa—using a unique approach called Liberty training, which fosters trust and connection without the use of restraints.
I recently took up knitting & sewing—my yarn collection is growing as we speak!
I once ran into my emotional intelligence idol, Brene Brown, at the pickleball courts. It is a whole story…riddled with embarrassment.
I will never stop defending my love for naps
ABOUT Steven (he/his)
Do you feel like your best efforts are never recognized in your relationship? Are you struggling to understand how to calm your partner during conflict? Do you wish you had more space to process without pressure, only to find that it seems to make things worse?
I have a strong track record of working with partners who need space, take longer to process, or bring a more logical and practical approach to relationships. I’m here to help you apply the strengths you already use in other areas of your life—work, parenting, leadership—and bring them into your relationship.
Together, we’ll work toward reducing conflict, increasing appreciation, and helping you feel seen and accepted for who you are. My goal is to support you in building a relationship that feels peaceful, steady, and emotionally safe.
As a queer therapist, I’m especially attuned to seeing multiple perspectives and questioning what’s often assumed to be “normal” in relationships. We'll challenge outdated narratives and find a path forward that fits your unique relationship needs, grounded in mutual respect, trust, and calm connection.
FOR COUPLES SEEKING RELATIONSHIP THERAPY
Because relationship therapy can be deep and emotionally demanding, I ask that each partner engage in individual therapy for at least six months before beginning couples work. This gives you the foundation to show up fully. When you are doing your own inner work, you’re able to stay present in the process and help create a relationship where both partners are invested in growth and change.
WHO WILL GET THE BEST RESULTS WORKING WITH ME?
If you're open-minded, self-motivated, and don’t mind a therapist who brings in humor, we’ll make a great team as we work toward your therapy or relationship goals. I warmly welcome clients of all races, ethnicities, and cultural backgrounds, as well as fellow members of the LGBTQIA+ community.
